Marijuana use does not lower your IQ. (But alcohol does.)

Cannabis use does not lower your IQ.

Is it any surprise that a comprehensive new study found that cannabis use is not associated with a decrease in IQ? Or that the same study found alcohol use to be “strongly associated with IQ decline?” Or that, way back in 2001, Columbia neuroscientist Carl Hart, PhD, found in his research that regular marijuana consumers showed no mental decline while high. Instead, regular consumption led to a tolerance to marijuana’s impairing effects. Casual users who had not built up a tolerance did show mental impairment while stoned.

Here are two good articles on the issue of IQ and marijuana and, for those who are particularly interested, a link to the University of London study. Enjoy!
